Entry #77: Would You Love Me? (Poem)

What if I was thinner, what if I was more lady-like?
What if I was younger?
Would you love me?
If I was more feminine?
What if my voice was softer?
Would you love me?
What if I was pretty, what if I could laugh gently?
What if my wings were pure white like starlight?
Would you love me?
If you would, it wouldn’t be me.
My form is crude, akin to a corpse.
I am ancient and worn.
My voice is piercing, and my laugh is that of a hyena.
I am not the white winged angel you wanted me to be.
I am the forsaken beast with skin as pale as the moon.
With wings as dark as the night.
Scars adorn my wretched flesh.
This is me.
Who could love me?
