Sing to me a song of pleasantries.

Fill my being with your warmth.

Connect to me with words of affection.

Connect to me with shared suffering.

Sing to me a song of sorrow.

Hollow out my insides.

Disconnect me with words of hate.

Disconnect me with isolated torment.

Sing to me a song I've heard a thousand times.

Your voice carries empty notes.

Notes I care not to listen to any longer.

Notes I have come to recognize as meaningless.

Sing to me a song I've heard a thousand times.

So that I may disconnect completely from everything.
